Vessel Operations Leader

The primary responsibility of this role is to oversee the safe and efficient operation of a vessel. This involves making decisions that ensure the well-being of the crew, the integrity of the vessel, and the protection of the environment.

Key responsibilities include reviewing and updating safety protocols, ensuring compliance with regulations, and coordinating with shore-based management to address any deficiencies in the safety management system.

This position also requires leadership skills, as the Master must motivate and direct the vessel crew to comply with safety procedures and adhere to company policies.

An additional aspect of this role is tug management, which involves coordinating crew attendance, provisioning, and readiness for operations.

In addition to these duties, the Master must also manage crew discipline, deal with issues as they arise, and escalate them to management when necessary.

Supervision and assistance with maintenance tasks are also part of this role, as is preparing operational reports and participating in safety training and induction programs.

The successful candidate will be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, make sound judgments, and prioritize tasks to ensure the smooth operation of the vessel.

Prior experience as a Master on vessels above 500GT is essential for this role, as is proficiency in basic safety training, medical care on board ships, survival craft and rescue boat operations, advanced firefighting, and security training.

A strong understanding of the English language is preferred, and at least 24 months of sea time as a Master is required.
