Senior Drilling Fluids Specialist

This role entails delivering in-depth drilling and completion lab testing and analytical work to support product design, project troubleshooting and performance analysis.

As a Senior Drilling Fluids Specialist, you will be responsible for:

  • Conducting pilot tests on proposed mud program recipes and actual field mud and/or brine samples when required.

  • Performing quality control checks on products as necessary.

  • Maintaining and calibrating site testing equipment. Planning new equipment purchases as needed.

  • Analyzing corrosion coupons recovered from the field and providing technical reports.

  • Evaluating and selecting optimum mud cake breaker formulations through core flow tests.

  • Evaluating and designing Reservoir Drill-In fluids and Low invasion Coring Fluids using PPA/PPT and laser PSD analyzers.

  • Monitoring and maintaining safe stock levels of lab consumables and spare parts for smooth operations.

  • Providing support for incident investigations and root cause analysis.

  • Ensuring laboratory and equipment are well-maintained and organized.

  • Providing mentorship and supervision to DCF Lab operations as required.

  • Collaborating with remote teams to share technical knowledge, theories, and actions to resolve inquiries and issues promptly.

To succeed in this position, you will require:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Petroleum/Mechanical Engineering.

  • A minimum of 7+ years of experience working in a Drilling Fluids Lab as a Lab Technician or Technical Support Engineer; 10 years is desirable.

  • Strong experience in drilling fluids design, applications, and performance.

  • Tech competence to run all Drilling Fluids API related Specs.

  • Ability to work independently in the lab and possess excellent planning, interpersonal, and influencing skills.

  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

  • Able to travel for customer facilities, meetings, training, etc.
