A leading conference and exhibition organizing company seeks a General Manager to drive the exhibition business unit into a successful operation.

Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity for a senior leader with strong leadership and managerial skills to manage multiple disciplines, including sales, customer focus, strategy, business development, people management, organizing, and financial operations.

Sales Strategy:
  • Monitor competitor activity to identify new strategies for account management and establish relationships with association partners.
  • Promote best practice in sales and maximize the effectiveness of the database.
Customer Focus:
  • Tailor solutions to meet customer needs and ensure they receive a return on investment.
Business Growth:
  • Develop the exhibition brands locally, regionally, and internationally and maximize business development opportunities for each exhibition.
People Management:
  • Demonstrate effective leadership and empower a team to achieve targets.
  • Communicate with the team and develop individual and team capability.
  • Manage a complex matrix reporting line and contribute fully to wider business issues.
Event Planning:
  • Understand supplier relationships and oversee floor planning and venue control.

To be considered for this opportunity, you must have:

Key Requirements:
  • 5-8 years' experience within the exhibition industry with a portfolio of mid to high-level events in the Middle East region.
  • University Graduate with experience within the exhibition industry.
  • Strong leadership and managerial skills with experience in managing multiple disciplines.
  • Self-motivated, result-oriented individual with good interpersonal skills and a high level of integrity and professionalism.
  • Strong Sales and Marketing background within a service industry familiar with sales systems and marketing awareness.
  • Budget management experience and familiarity with accounting systems.
  • Team management experience.
