
General Manager – Exhibitions

A leading conference and exhibition organising company located in the heart of Oman-Muscat, is now hiring a General Manager for Exhibitions.
This is an exciting opportunity for a senior leader to drive the exhibition business unit into a successful and fully fledged operation.
Job Description:
1. Sales:
- Monitor competitor activity to identify new strategies for account management.
- Establish and maintain relationships with association partners.
- Manage the database to maximise its effectiveness.
- Promote best practice in sales.
2. Customer Focus:
- Ability to identify customer needs, coupled with an ability to tailor solutions to meet those needs.
- Identify the motivations that influence the decision to buy.
- Recognise customer's need for ROI and how we can ensure that they get the return.
3. Strategy:
- Having an existing list of contacts across all industry sectors.
- Regular attendee at industry social events.
- Generates and acts upon new ideas.
- Monitor competitive show strategies.
- Segmentation of market.
4. Business Development:
- Develop the Exhibition brands locally, regionally and internationally.
- Maximise the business development opportunities for each exhibition.
5. People Management:
Able to
- Demonstrate effective leadership.
- Recruit, motivate and empower a team.
- Communicate with the team.
- Manage a complex matrix reporting line.
- Develops individual and team capability.
- Work at Senior Management level and contribute fully to wider business issues.
- Develop sales incentive systems to help focus staff on target attainment.
- Delegates and encourages others to do so.
6. Organising:
- Manage and work with Department Directors.
- Understand supplier relationships.
- Oversee floor planning.
- Control venue.
7. Financial:
- Co-coordinating
To be considered for this opportunity you must have the following skills and attributes:
Experience:
- 5 to 8 year's experience within the exhibition industry, with a portfolio of mid to high level events in the Middle East region.
- University Graduate with experience within the exhibition industry.
- Strong leadership and managerial skills with experience in managing multi disciplines.
- Self-motivated, result oriented individual with good inter personal skills and a high level of integrity and professionalism.
- Strong Sales and Marketing background within a service industry, familiar with sales systems and marketing awareness.
- Budget management experience and familiarity with accounting systems.
- Team management experience.
