Purchasing Manager Job Description

The role of a Purchasing Manager is to oversee the procurement of goods and services for an organization. This includes sourcing, negotiating, and managing vendor contracts to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of quality materials and supplies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Developing and Implementing Procurement Strategies: Create and execute plans to meet operational needs, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Sourcing and Negotiating Vendor Contracts: Identify and engage reliable suppliers, negotiate prices, and manage contract terms to optimize value.
  • Cost Control and Quality Assurance: Monitor and control expenses, while ensuring the quality of delivered goods and services meets organizational standards.
  • Collaboration with Department Heads: Work closely with stakeholders to forecast needs, track inventory levels, and coordinate logistics.
  • Supplier Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key vendors to ensure mutually beneficial partnerships.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
  • 3-5+ years of experience in procurement or purchasing management, preferably in hospitality or service industry.
  • Strong negotiation, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Familiarity with procurement software and inventory systems.
  • Knowledge of hospitality supply chain requirements.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally.
  • High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
