This reputable, high performing school in Muscat is seeking a UK curriculum experienced Head of Department for Drama and Theatre Studies to join their Senior School on a fixed-term maternity cover contract to work with highly engaged students, staff and parents in a vibrant school environment.
The school is a not-for-profit, non-selective, co-educational, British international day school that provides a comprehensive and balanced education to a mix of approximately 900 English speaking expatriate pupils aged The school follows an enhanced National Curriculum for England and Wales and produces exceptionally high SAT, GCSE and A Level results, placing it in the top 2% of schools in England. Role Overview
As Head of Department for Drama and Theatre Studies, you will foster and support effective teaching and learning by providing professional leadership for the subject
team, managing the use of resources and being a model of professional practice. You will need to show a genuine commitment to creating an inspiring and stimulating child centred learning environment.
Responsibilities:
- Leading and managing an effective department: responsible for the teaching staff and other relevant personnel within the department, including liaison with Key Stage Leaders & the Inclusion Department.
- Effective Administration and Strategic Planning.
- Curriculum.
- Communication.
- Management of Resources.
- Pastoral System.
- Professional Development.
- Any other additional duties commensurate with the grade of the post as directed by the Head of Senior School.

Requirements
- You are a qualified teacher with a UK or internationally recognised equivalent qualification.
- You possess a strong understanding of the UK curriculum and have at least 2 years of experience teaching Drama or Theatre Studies post-qualification.
- You have a proven track record of leading and managing a department in a secondary school setting.
- You are passionate about inspiring creativity and fostering a love of learning in students.
- You are an excellent communicator and collaborator, with the ability to build strong relationships with staff, students, and parents.
- You are committed to professional development and continuously seek new ways to improve your teaching practice.
