Overview

Oman Oil Company Exploration & Production LLC (OOCEP) is seeking an experienced Petrophysicist for a major operated asset. Reporting to the Exploration Manager, the role will be based in Muscat, Sultanate of Oman.

Job Responsibilities & Activities
  1. Provide high-quality petrophysical interpretation results and technical program advice for commercial, technical, and operational decisions.
  2. Create and evaluate QA/QC of logging programs (conventional and non-conventional) and supervise these activities.
  3. Perform hands-on log interpretation of logs such as FMI, Segma, VSP, NMR, including cased hole logging (e.g., production logs).
  4. Set up core analysis programs for wells to be cored.
  5. Define FWL using pressure data and build SHF models with MICP.
  6. Integrate PP data into subsurface reservoir characterizations for development and exploration projects.
  7. Calculate reservoir parameters like saturation, porosity, and formation factors manually or using software.
  8. Conduct Value of Information and cost analyses related to petrophysical data acquisition or analysis.
  9. Represent OOCEP in Technical Committee Meetings regarding petrophysics.
  10. Mentor young Omani graduates and develop technical training programs.
  11. Implement new technologies and software in petrophysics, aligning them with OOCEP and partners.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Geosciences; Master's preferred.
  • 10+ years of petrophysical engineering experience in the Middle East oil industry or related sectors.
  • Experience in logging operations, core measurements, lab follow-up, data interpretation, and reservoir studies.
  • Proficiency with industry tools and techniques for both clastic and carbonate reservoirs.
  • Knowledge of petrophysical and geological analysis integration.
  • Ability to work in teams and communicate effectively with multidisciplinary engineers and geoscientists.
  • Capable of working under pressure within tight project timelines.
  • Strong organizational, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word).
  • High attention to detail, analytical skills, and problem-solving ability.
