Svitzer is seeking an experienced Contract Manager for its port operations in Qalhat, Oman. What you can look forward to

Focusing on operational excellence and continuity, the role is responsible for overseeing Marine Operations of the Svitzer fleet and Marine Standards duties in the port of Qalhat. With uptime, on hire, and reliability as guiding principles, the role will ensure the standards and uptime of Svitzer's deployed assets by working with crews, shore side staff, and external stakeholders, including customers and relevant authorities, to ensure a customer-centric approach. The role involves collaboration with Regional and Group functions to meet customer needs while maintaining a safety-focused operational environment.

What will you do

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing the financial performance of the contract, including revenue, OPEX, capitalized maintenance & repair, and overhead costs.
  • Planning, executing, and evaluating business and operational strategies to maximize the value of Svitzer's operations in the assigned region.
  • Leading and managing an engaged onshore and offshore organization, developing high-performing staff, and supporting fair accountability.
  • Driving operational excellence and customer-focused solutions to ensure timely, reliable, and safe service.
  • Developing and maintaining excellent relationships with customers, stakeholders, and authorities.
  • Promoting a safety and security environment, making Safety and Security a competitive advantage ("Do it Safely or Not at All").
  • Ensuring adherence to all safety procedures, policies, and regional operational practices.
  • Ensuring all employees understand and follow Svitzer guidelines, authorities, and policies.
  • Driving cost efficiency across administrative, operational, and technical expenditures.
  • Overseeing Technical Superintendent and M&R spending and dockings (every 5 years).
  • Implementing best practice standards for finance and operations as communicated by Svitzer Group and/or the AMEA Region.
  • Ensuring compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements in collaboration with legal and regional specialists.
  • Maintaining an efficient financial organization in coordination with the Regional CFO for transparency and reporting.
  • Ensuring vessels are properly manned and equipped according to legal and Svitzer standards.
Who we are looking for
  • A seasoned marine services Contract Manager with proven management experience in Terminal Towage industry operations.
  • Must possess a valid Master Mariner Class 1 CoC. Experience as a Tug Master, especially with ASD tugs in Harbour Towage, is a plus.
  • A financially literate business leader with project implementation experience preferred.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in business or marine management.
  • Strong business acumen and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to influence and engage stakeholders, including port authorities and senior management.
  • Sound financial management and analytical skills, structured and data-driven.
  • Proven project management experience.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
  • High professionalism, honesty, and integrity.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and planning skills, with the ability to manage details and think conceptually.
  • Understanding of change management and working effectively within a matrix structure.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in marine operations, with at least 5 years onshore and 3 years in a management role.
