1. Role Objective

The Technical Training Function Head at Oman Air assumes a crucial leadership position, responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operation of Oman Air's Technical Training Department. The role will ensure all technical training programs are in line with Oman Air's transformation strategy as well as demonstrate best practices to achieve operational excellence.

2. Duties and Responsibilities

1.Establish, document, and maintain Oman Air Technical Training programs as per compliance with CAA. This includes a training syllabus and detailed structure for all crew training courses

2.Develop, implement, integrate, and maintain best-in-class Technical and Engineering Training programs to train and develop Engineering personnel, that meet regulatory and compliance requirements

3.Manage, implement, review, update & coordinate Oman Air's technical training programs to ensure compliance as required by the relevant Civil Aviation Regulations and industry best practices

4.Develop and implement training policies in accordance with COO's approval to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and to reflect best industry practice

5.Prepare Training Manuals and conduct Approved Type Courses for engineering staff, ensuring to impart up to date knowledge for use with Oman Air Engineering & Maintenance Operations

6.Manage and oversee the Technical Training short and long-term roster planning capabilities to ensure the department is successfully able to deliver and meet learning demands based on operation and manpower plans (i.e., training capital, course material and operational budget)

7.Design and deliver processes and standards that enable technical training to efficiently utilize its recourses and ensure the highest levels of productivity and operational efficiency

8.Establish and track metrics and KPIs to measure the effectiveness of training programs and adherence with standards

9.Constantly monitor to ensure that all standards and regulations pertaining to technical training are kept up to date and are available adhering to the regulatory requirements

10.Constantly review and recommend upgrades to course manual in order to ensure all trainees are updated with the latest knowledge required for use with Oman air operations

11.Ensure relevant stakeholders (engineers, instructors, and examiners) have full access to all training syllabi, documents, study guides, and relevant material appropriate to the training and testing

12.Maintain all engineers training and testing records

13.Liaise with relevant authorities to obtain the approvals for the applicable training courses, equipment, and facilities

14.Ensure proper and efficient liaison and follow-up with external training facilities

15.Ensuring that sufficient training and checking personnel are available to meet the training requirements

16.Comply with the Company policies and procedures as specified in the relevant manuals

17.Carry out other relevant duties / ad-hoc requests assigned by COO

18.Any other tasks assigned by management

3. Education & Experience

Bachelor's degree in engineering or relevant discipline; or holder of EASA part 66 or equivalent aircraft maintenance license; or

Must possess AML plus Instructor's approval

Must possess "Instructional Techniques" course from a recognized organization

Must possess Instructor approval to conduct training course on modern wide / narrow bodied aircraft on at least 2 aircraft types operated by WY

Expertise in Engineering Training and development, experience as a Trainer and Examiner

10-12+ years of aviation experience of which 5 years in technical training

Ideal Experience:

In-depth understanding of airlines operations, assets, functionality, and industry standards, and training requirements

Practical knowledge of technical training and airlines engineering regulatory requirements

In-depth knowledge of CAR 66 & CAR 147 CAA Oman regulations & industry best practices

Demonstrated success in airline crew training that aligns seamlessly with Oman Air's business objectives

Demonstrated success in collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams to drive cross-functional initiatives

4. Special Skills & Knowledge

Knowledge of international and regional civil aviation regulations, including but not limited to Oman civil aviation regulations and operations manuals

Deep understanding of industry best practices and emerging trends in technical training

Strong communication skills: Dynamic and motivational leader, with a strong presence and excellent communication and public speaking skills in English

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment / transformational setting

Proficiency in English (must) and Arabic (preferred)
