About the Company

Petroleum Development Oman is the leading exploration and production company in the Sultanate of Oman. The Company delivers the majority of the country's crude oil production and natural gas supply.

Purpose of the Job

The Development Operations Engineer helps manage and maintain software development infrastructure. The DevOps Engineer will be assisting and reporting back to the Senior DevOps Engineer; thus, should be familiar with a wide range of technological tools, including Git, Ansible, Gradle, and Docker. You must be a good communicator if you want to succeed as a DevOps engineer because you will frequently communicate with different stakeholders.

Education & Experience

  1. Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field.
  2. Minimum of 7 years of experience, out of which 3 years and above in DevOps or related field.
  3. Must have experience in the product and platform operating models.
  4. Must have experience in Digital Product and Platform.
  5. An understanding of cloud-based infrastructure and services, such as Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure.
  6. Git or another version control system experience.
  7. Knowledge of scripting languages, including Python and Bash.
  8. Understanding of software development processes and tools, such as continuous integration and delivery.
  9. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  10. Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Main Responsibilities

  1. Assist in the deployment and configuration of technologies and tools used in software development, including build servers, version control systems, and automated testing frameworks.
  2. Assist in managing and maintaining cloud-based infrastructure and services, as those provided by Microsoft Azure or Amazon Web Services (AWS).
  3. Work together with the development team to resolve problems with infrastructure and software deployments.
  4. Create and maintain scripts and automation tools to simplify infrastructure administration and software deployment.
  5. Help with access control and vulnerability management, as well as monitoring and maintaining system security.
  6. Keep abreast of current DevOps and software development trends and best practices.
