Job Description

Job Summary

The Assistant IT Manager is responsible for supporting the IT Manager in overseeing the hotel's information technology systems and infrastructure. This role includes managing network operations, ensuring system security, troubleshooting technical issues, and assisting in the implementation of new technologies to enhance operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will have strong technical abilities combined with excellent interpersonal skills to effectively support hotel staff and guests.

1. Provide first-line support for IT-related issues faced by hotel staff and guests.

2. Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software and network problems.

3. Maintain a log of issues and effectively escalate complex problems to the IT Manager.

4. Assist in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of computer systems, servers, and networking equipment.

5. Monitor system performance and conduct regular backups to ensure data integrity and security.

6. Update software and applications, ensuring all systems are current and compliant with hotel requirements.

7. Ensure the security of the hotel's IT infrastructure by maintaining firewalls, antivirus software, and ensuring data

privacy compliance.

8. Implement security protocols and best practices to protect sensitive information and hotel operations.

9. Support the IT Manager in the planning and execution of technology projects, including system upgrades and new software implementations.

10. Collaborate with other departments to understand their IT needs and provide recommendations for technology solutions.

11. Assist in training hotel staff on new technologies and software applications.

12. Develop user-friendly documentation and training materials to facilitate staff learning.

13. Liaise with external vendors for IT services, repairs, and supplies as required.

14. Assist in managing relationships with service providers to ensure that service levels are met and costs are managed effectively.

Qualifications Required

  • Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in a technical support role, preferably within the hospitality industry.
  • Strong knowledge of hotel management systems, networking, hardware, and software applications.
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity principles and practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

Skills:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Adaptability and willingness to learn new technologies and tools.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant hotel management software.
