We enable access to credit through its primary products: Mala'a Credit Report, and Mala'a Credit Score for individuals and corporates.

Mala'a membership spans across several sectors including the banking and financial sector, SME Funds, and Telecom. Mala'a is also connected to several government entities as data providers, to position Mala'a as a national databank.

The establishment of the Centre comes as an important pillar of the Central Bank of Oman's Strategy: to establish a cross-sectored National Databank that empowers Oman to transform into a knowledge-based nation.

Position Summary

To lead and manage Mala'a's IT infrastructure, systems, and team. This role involves managing IT operations, ensuring network security, implementing technology solutions, and supporting business objectives through innovative technology strategies.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for end-to-end planning, execution, and delivery of technical projects, ensuring alignment with business goals, adherence to timelines, and efficient resource utilization while mitigating risks.
  • Maintain and oversee the center's digital infrastructure, including but not limited to servers, networks devices, firewalls, ensuring maximum uptime and reliability.
  • Implement & monitor security measures to safeguard data and systems from potential threats or breaches.
  • Ensure regular data backups and establish robust recovery protocols to prevent data loss in the event of system failures or other emergencies.
  • Test backup systems periodically to confirm data integrity and recoverability.
  • Plan and execute hardware and software upgrades with minimal disruption to business.
  • Provide prompt support to business users ensuring swift resolutions to minimize downtime.
  • Prepare and manage the department's annual budget, ensuring cost-effective procurement of equipment and services.
  • Ensure department's operations comply with policies, regulations, and data protection laws.
  • Maintain accurate records of system configurations, licenses, warranties, and service agreements.
  • Liaise with department heads to propose innovative solutions and technologies to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Periodic review of internal processes and systems to identify areas for improvement and optimization.
  • Develop, maintain & test contingency plans to ensure business continuity during emergencies, such as system outages.
  • Act as the primary point of contact and lead the response efforts to restore normal operations.
  • Strong knowledge of security frameworks like PCI DSS, ISO 27001, and regulatory compliance standards.
  • Strong knowledge of tools like SIEM, IAM, DLP, and endpoint security solutions.
  • Period conduct the switchover test to ensure business continuity.
  • Effective communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Lead and mentor the team. Recruit, train, and foster a positive work environment.
  • Liaise with systems Advisors to ensure robust and smooth operations.

Experience & Qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field from a well-reputed university/ college.
  • Minimum of 15 years in the relevant field and at least 7 years as an IT manager for a reputed organization, preferably in Bank.
  • Strong knowledge of IT systems, networks, and infrastructure.
  • In-depth knowledge of Credit Bureau/Credit Registry products, services, and Credit Reporting Standards including Corporate Group exposure analysis.
