Port Operations Manager

As a skilled Maine Pilot, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient movement of vessels through our port. Your expertise in marine operations, navigation, and communication will be essential in coordinating with ship masters, tugboat operators, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless vessel traffic flow.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include acting as the Port Authority's representative on board vessels, advising on safe anchorage positions, and allocating berths in line with defined guidelines. You will also participate in the implementation of departmental policies, standard operating procedures, and instructions to maintain consistency in work practices. Additionally, you will contribute to the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement, sustainability of systems, processes, and practices, taking into account global best standards, productivity improvement, and cost reduction.
Requirements
To succeed in this role, you must possess a Master Mariner Class 1 certificate with STCW95 compliance, including ARPA, GMDSS, BRM, etc., with knowledge of handling Very Large Ore Carriers. You should also be physically fit to carry out duties in a 24/7 roster and possess strong analytical, judgment, organizational, and communication skills. Leadership skills are also essential, as well as problem-solving abilities and incident management capabilities.
