Engineering Manager

About the Role

As a highly skilled Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for leading a team of engineers and overseeing the development and implementation of various projects. Your primary focus will be on ensuring the smooth operation of the team, fostering a culture of innovation, and driving success through effective management.

This role requires a unique blend of technical expertise, leadership skills, and business acumen. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to develop and implement engineering roadmaps, drive strategic decision-making, and ensure that projects are completed efficiently and effectively.

In this position, you will have the opportunity to grow and develop your team members, identify areas for improvement, and implement process changes to enhance productivity and efficiency.

Daily Responsibilities
  • Manage a distributed team of engineers and oversee the MLOps/Analytics portfolio
  • Organize and lead team processes to achieve objectives
  • Conduct one-on-one meetings with team members to discuss goals, progress, and challenges
  • Identify and measure key performance indicators (KPIs) to gauge team health
  • Engage with the community to foster collaboration and knowledge-sharing
  • Review code produced by other engineers to ensure quality and consistency
  • Represent the company at conferences and events to showcase MLOps solutions
  • Mentor and develop direct reports to help them achieve their professional goals
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A proven track record of software delivery experience
  • Professional Python development experience, preferably with open-source contributions
  • A deep understanding of the machine learning space, its challenges, and opportunities for improvement
  • Experience designing and implementing MLOps solutions
  • An exceptional academic record from high school and university
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

The following skills may be beneficial but are not required:

  • Hands-on experience with machine learning libraries or tools
  • Proven track record of building highly automated machine learning solutions for the cloud
  • Experience building machine learning models
  • Container technologies (Docker, LXD, Kubernetes, etc.)
  • Public clouds (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
  • Linux and open-source software expertise
  • Working knowledge of cloud computing
  • Passion for software quality and testing
  • Experience working on a distributed team on an open-source project
