Academic Support Specialist

About the Role:

This role is designed to provide personalized support to students in achieving academic success. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of academic skills and be able to deliver coaching sessions that cater to individual needs.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver one-on-one and group coaching sessions focused on study strategies, time management, organization, and goal setting.

  • Monitor student progress and collaborate with faculty and support staff to address challenges.

  • Develop tailored coaching plans and interventions for at-risk students.

  • Maintain accurate records of student interactions, progress, and outcomes.

  • Support students in navigating academic resources, including tutoring, advising, and counseling services.

  • Design and deliver workshops or seminars on academic success topics.

  • Foster student accountability and self-advocacy.

  • Stay informed on current best practices in academic coaching and student development.


Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Counseling, or a related field (a master's degree is preferred).

  • Experience working with students in an educational setting, preferably in academic advising, coaching, or counseling.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • The ability to work independently and collaboratively.

  • Proficiency in using digital tools for scheduling, data tracking, and communication.


Preferred Skills:

  • An understanding of learning theories, motivational strategies, and educational technologies.

  • Experience working with diverse student populations, including first-generation college students or students with learning challenges.
