The primary role of an Environmental Health and Safety Officer is to ensure a safe working environment for all employees while minimizing the company's environmental footprint. This involves overseeing and implementing health, safety, and environmental policies across various operations.

Key areas of responsibility include compliance with regulatory requirements, risk assessments, hazard identifications, and job safety analyses (JSA). Additionally, the officer must conduct regular inspections and audits to identify non-conformities and ensure timely resolution.

Another crucial aspect of this role is monitoring and reporting key HSE metrics such as Lost Time Injury Frequency Rate (LTIFR) and Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR). The officer must also maintain logs for inspections, permits, audits, and compliance checklists.

A Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or a related field is typically required for this position. Certification in NEBOSH/IOSH/OSHA/First Aid/Fire Safety is also highly recommended.

In terms of experience, a minimum of one year in an HSE role, preferably in an industrial environment, is preferred. Knowledge of OSHA, NEBOSH, ISO standards, or local regulatory requirements is also essential.

Safety Responsibilities
  1. Conduct routine site inspections and audits to ensure compliance with regulations and identify potential hazards.
  2. Develop, implement, and maintain HSE policies, procedures, and systems in line with legal and industry standards.
  3. Ensure the availability and proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  4. Monitor and manage waste disposal, emissions, water usage, and other environmental impacts.
Education and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or related field.
  • Certification in NEBOSH/IOSH/OSHA/First Aid/Fire Safety.
Experience and Skills
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in an HSE role, preferably in an industrial environment.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, NEBOSH, ISO standards, or local regulatory requirements.
