Technical Support Specialist Job Description

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a Technical Support Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our IT department, you will be responsible for providing first-line technical support to staff, faculty, and students.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Serve as the primary point of contact for customers seeking technical assistance over the phone or via email.
  2. Implement and manage IT service management (ITSM) practices.
  3. Manage and maintain ICT assets across the organization.
  4. Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office 365, Windows 10/11, and Windows OS.
  5. Collaborate with colleagues to evaluate new technologies and identify potential improvements to existing systems.
  6. Create and update documentation for MU services, including procedure guidelines and user manuals.
  7. Perform remote troubleshooting using diagnostic techniques.
  8. Maintain accurate records of events, problems, and resolutions in logs.
  9. Work closely with stakeholders to define user needs and requirements.
Requirements
  • A minimum of 2 years' experience in user support and help desk environments.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team-based setting.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft products, Windows OS, and academic software.
  • Previous experience in a higher education institution is highly desirable.
Working Conditions

This role requires full-time commitment, with working hours as necessary for the position.

The successful candidate will be based in Muscat, Oman, with occasional local travel required.
