Technical Support Specialist Job Description
About the RoleThis is an exciting opportunity for a Technical Support Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our IT department, you will be responsible for providing first-line technical support to staff, faculty, and students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for customers seeking technical assistance over the phone or via email.
- Implement and manage IT service management (ITSM) practices.
- Manage and maintain ICT assets across the organization.
- Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office 365, Windows 10/11, and Windows OS.
- Collaborate with colleagues to evaluate new technologies and identify potential improvements to existing systems.
- Create and update documentation for MU services, including procedure guidelines and user manuals.
- Perform remote troubleshooting using diagnostic techniques.
- Maintain accurate records of events, problems, and resolutions in logs.
- Work closely with stakeholders to define user needs and requirements.
- A minimum of 2 years' experience in user support and help desk environments.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team-based setting.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft products, Windows OS, and academic software.
- Previous experience in a higher education institution is highly desirable.
This role requires full-time commitment, with working hours as necessary for the position.
The successful candidate will be based in Muscat, Oman, with occasional local travel required.
