21c Museum Hotels is seeking a skilled Income Auditor to join our team. As a key member of the accounting department, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial data.

Job Description
  • Daily Room Revenue Audit:
    • We are looking for an experienced auditor who can verify that any discrepancies between housekeeping and front office room status are reported. The total rooms available for sale should agree with the contracted rooms available.
    • The market segmentation should correctly reflect the source of business and accurately reflect in the general ledger (GL).
    • The auditor should verify the room rate with agreements or reservations, check allowance for room revenue. Room revenue as per property management system (PMS) should be corrected in GL.
    • A physical room check should be performed.
    • The auditor should check mini bar revenue, laundry revenue, telephone and other revenue.
    • The rebate report, discount report, complimentary and house use report, no show posting, late check out, etc. should be checked to ensure that every complimentary room, house use room, discount or rebate of revenue has adequate explanation in the approval form.
  • Credit Card Reconciliation:
    • The auditor should reconcile all credit card collections against cashier summary and lists received from the bank.
  • Food Cover Report:
    • The final food cover report should be prepared and photocopy various documentation for food and beverage control and the finance department.
  • Revenue Journal:
    • The revenue journal should be keyed in and distributed to outlet managers and management.
  • Docket Control:
    • The auditor should control dockets used in all outlets, maintaining correct sequence used at all times, accounting for dockets and ensuring canceled dockets are recorded accordingly.
  • F&B Sales Control:
    • The auditor should control all food and beverage sales by correctly recording guest checks on a timely basis.
    • Spot checks on outlet checks used should be performed.
    • All voided checks, corrections, and unsettled checks should be approved by the restaurant supervisor or manager.
    • The buffet controls should be monitored, especially over cash settled checks to prevent reuse ensuring all revenue is recorded.
    • Banquet controls should be ensured to be adhered to.
    • Total outlet sales should be reconciled to total charges.
  • Rebates and Miscellaneous Charges:
    • The auditor should ensure that all rebates and miscellaneous charges are supported by documentation detailing the charges.
    • All rebate credits must be in accordance with finance policy.
    • The rebate credits, miscellaneous charges, and paid outs should be summarized and sent to the finance manager and general manager for review daily.
  • Program Controls:
    • The auditor should ensure that programs involving coupons, certificates, and vouchers are adequately controlled and safeguards are in place.
  • General Cashier Summary:
    • The auditor should audit daily collection of the general cashier's summary against the bank in slip.
  • Advance Payments:
    • The auditor should audit and reconcile advance payments and ensure payments have been applied.
  • Register Control:
    • The auditor should work with the general cashier to check all float totals regularly and keep control on registers in outlets.
  • Revenues Reconciliation:
    • The auditor should reconcile revenues on a daily basis via back-up page.
  • Special Projects:
    • The auditor may perform various special projects as requested and assigned by management.
  • Hotel Handbook and Policies:
    • The auditor should adhere to hotel handbook and general policies and procedures.
  • Finance Policies:
    • The auditor should adhere to finance policies and procedures.
Qualifications

Your experience and skills include:

  • Proven experience as an income auditor or in a similar role within the hospitality industry.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in financial auditing techniques and procedures.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and familiarity with accounting software.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
  • Ability to work independently and under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work cohesively and collectively as part of a team.
