Ateca Consulting is looking for an experienced Message Queue and Broker Administrator to join our team. The successful candidate will have a strong background in enterprise messaging technologies, including IBM's MQ suite of products.

About the Role

This role is ideal for an experienced system administrator who wants to take their skills to the next level by managing and administering enterprise messaging infrastructure. You will be part of a small, cross-trained team that works primarily on distributed Linux systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer WMQ/WMB systems to ensure high performance, logging, backup, recovery, and health checking.
  • Collaborate with business, developers, and system administrators to plan and set up new infrastructure.
  • Troubleshoot system performance and connectivity issues within applications and infrastructure.
  • Perform day-to-day system administration of the WMQ/Message Broker.
  • Set up new WMQ/Message Broker, clustering production environment.
  • Provide WMQ/Message Broker performance support.
  • Resolve problems related to WMQ/Message Broker activities.
  • Develop and deploy scripts for WMQ/Message Broker administration.
  • Offer break-fix support for WMQ/Message Broker activities.
  • Fault finding and problem determination.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's/Master's degree in computer science.
  • Experience with SSL certificate installation, renewal, and configuration.
  • Proficiency in UNIX required.
  • Knowledge of Message Broker monitoring and performance tuning on Unix platforms.
  • Strong background in MQ and Message Broker operations, administration, and support.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills for complex MQ and Message Broker message flows issues.
  • Exposure to Message Flows development, deployment, and test support using MQ and Message Broker.
  • Hands-on experience in message flows problem diagnosis and investigations.
  • Good exposure to SSL certificates installations in Message Broker environments.
  • Strong understanding of MQ clustering, performance tuning, and monitoring.
  • Skills include installation, configuration of MQ and Message Broker, creating new queue managers, queues, channels, name lists, SSL repositories, creating brokers, configuration managers, backups, and restores.
  • Extensive experience with IBM's MQ suite of products, particularly MQ versions 6/7 and Message Broker.
  • Installation base systems will be Intel systems running Red Hat/SUSE Linux.
  • Ability to administer and provide day-to-day support of the MQ service, including problem resolution in all environments.
  • Candidate should possess good oral and written communication skills.
