About the Role

The successful Environmental Officer will be responsible for supporting project operations in Oman and ensuring compliance with client requirements.

  • Develop, review and revise a Construction Environmental Management Plan (CEMP) to ensure its effective implementation.
  • Deliver training on environmental management requirements related to construction activities and prepare relevant communication materials.
  • Incorporate specific environmental requirements into method statements and risk assessments, adhering to IMS procedures.
  • Conduct regular environmental site inspections, generate reports and coordinate closeout with concerned teams.
  • Perform environmental monitoring, including noise, air quality and water quality assessments, and interpret gathered data.
  • Manage responses to environmental incidents, complaints, NCRs and exceedances, ensuring proper closeout in accordance with IMS procedures.
  • Carry out internal environmental audits in line with IMS requirements.
  • Participate in external environmental audits or environmental authority visits.
  • Conduct Environmental Aspects and Impacts Assessments for activities within the project scope.
  • Collect and accurately report environmental data to clients, authorities and corporate teams.
  • Organize and lead environmental events/campaigns for the project.

This role requires strong interpersonal and soft skills to build and maintain collaborative working relationships, raise environmental awareness and recommend operational improvements. The ideal candidate will have:

  • A strong ability to independently manage a high-volume workload, coordinate multiple resources and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills to clearly articulate requirements, actions and updates.
  • The ability to comprehend and interpret environmental-related documents, such as specifications, plans and reports.
Requirements
  • Degree in Environmental Studies or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience as an environmental engineer/officer in Oman/GCC region.
  • Fluency in English and Arabic.
  • ISO 14001:2015 certification.
  • Specialized knowledge in environmental permitting processes, CEMP development and environmental management procedures.
  • Familiarity with national and international environmental laws, regulations and standards.
