
Route Development Manager

Route Development Manager: Responsible for route development across global markets, with a focus on key regions of strategic importance. The primary objective is to drive passenger growth by increasing seat capacity, attracting new airlines, enhancing flight frequencies, and expanding the number of destinations served by airports under the management of Oman Airports.
Responsibilities:
- Primary responsibility for building seat capacity, across the network of Oman Airports.
- Build and maintain close relationships with the travel trade and airlines serving any airports in Oman to encourage and incentivize them to increase capacity from Omani airports.
- Develop and maintain appropriate airline and overseas stakeholder relationships that facilitate the new capacity and reduce risks for preventing airline exit.
- Responsibility for increasing seat capacity across the Oman Airports network to drive passenger growth and support overall revenue enhancement.
- Develop and sustain strong relationships with airlines and travel trade partners operating to and from Oman's airports, with the aim of encouraging capacity growth.
- Establish and manage effective partnerships with airlines and key international stakeholders to support the introduction of new routes and safeguard existing services.
- Lead direct marketing efforts targeting airlines and General Sales Agents (GSAs) to stimulate new route launches or expansions of current services.
- Continuously monitor and assess risks to existing airline operations, with a focus on mitigating threats from the markets.
- Conduct in-depth market research and analysis to identify new route development opportunities and potential capacity enhancements.
- Engage local carriers to explore codeshare partnerships or other forms of collaboration that enhance route viability and stimulate demand.
- Collaborate with international tourism bodies, DMCs, travel agencies, and foreign airports to identify market demand or stimulate new demand for routes to Oman.
- Coordinate with stakeholders to create compelling business cases that promote Oman Airports as viable gateways for airline growth.
Qualification & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in airport marketing or airline network planning, preferably with exposure in the Middle East region.
- Proven international marketing and sales experience, ideally within the airport, airline, or tourism sectors.
- Strong commercial background in aviation and/or the travel and tourism industry.
- General understanding of airport and airline operations.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet performance targets and deadlines.
- Proficient in creating and delivering professional presentations and business reports.
- Experience in overseas aviation and/or international marketing is highly desirable.
