Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Subsurface Operations Lead to support the planning and execution of CO₂ injection and monitoring well construction activities. This role involves hands-on field supervision and close coordination with service providers, ensuring seamless delivery across multiple project phases. You'll play a key part in pioneering safe and scalable subsurface operations that contribute to long-term CO₂ storage.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, plan, and execute the drilling and completion of injection, observation, and production wells
  • Develop and validate well construction designs, offering technical guidance and solutions
  • Take ownership of well delivery and collaborate on interrelated engineering projects on-site
  • Supervise field operations, ensuring alignment between internal teams, service companies, and third parties
  • Contribute to the drafting and oversight of operational contracts with a focus on quality and performance
  • Stay up to date with emerging technologies and techniques in well construction
  • Apply critical thinking to operational challenges, developing tools like decision trees and option assessments
  • Prepare detailed operational programs, including key milestones and decision checkpoints
  • Participate in the recruitment and selection of technical experts to ensure smooth project execution

Candidate Requirements:

  • Graduated in drilling, petroleum engineering, or a related field, with at least 7 years of experience in well construction
  • Passionate about sustainability and committed to advancing negative emissions technologies
  • Proven track record of successful project delivery, ideally within the Middle East region
  • Curious and driven to broaden your expertise in innovative applications
  • Solid understanding of industry standards, safety protocols, and best practices
  • Experience working in CO₂ environments or extreme conditions is a plus
  • Hands-on field experience is essential
  • IWCF certification is preferred; additional drilling certifications are a bonus
