About the Role

We are seeking a seasoned Design Director to lead our team of professionals in delivering exceptional results across various projects. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for driving innovation and excellence in design management.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in construction and consultancy, with extensive experience in managing large, diverse teams. They will also possess excellent leadership skills, with the ability to mentor and develop their team members.

Responsibilities
  • Safety First: Directing and upholding our safety first value, ensuring exceptional standards in safety, quality, cost, programme, sustainability, and compliance.
  • Technical Expertise: Applying advanced technical expertise in local health and safety regulations across the project portfolio.
  • Diversity and Inclusion: Being a champion of diversity, inclusion, and well-being within the design team.
  • Design Management: Leading the design management sub-function, delivering business plan outcomes and strategic KPIs on time and within budget.
  • Client Relationships: Managing key client relationships and generating new business opportunities.
  • Innovation: Implementing design management systems and processes to meet statutory, legal, and contractual requirements.
  • Long-term Strategy: Influencing long-term strategy and contributing to building a sustainable business future.
  • Talent Development: Mentoring and developing the project teams, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
Requirements
  • Relevant Qualifications: A relevant degree qualification.
  • High-end Hospitality Experience: Strong high-end hospitality experience in mixed-use schemes.
  • Emirati Experience: Experience working in the United Arab Emirates is essential for client approval.
  • Professional Memberships: Membership of RIBA, MICE, CIBSE, CIOB, RICS, CIAT or equivalent demonstrable professional or personal development.
  • Construction Expertise: Extensive experience in the successful delivery phase of projects and programmes in the construction sector.
  • Building Safety Legislation: Knowledge of building safety legislation, building standards, construction contracts, professional appointments and health and safety legislation.
  • Leadership Skills: Leadership and management experience of large, diverse teams.
  • Senior Stakeholder Relationships: Experience managing relationships with key senior stakeholders.
  • Career Progression: Knowledge of how carbon and sustainability considerations will shape the outlook of the projects you are working on.
