Ship Master Position

The Ship Master serves as the highest authority on board, responsible for ensuring the safety and security of the crew, vessel, and environment. Their role is to oversee all aspects of the ship's operation, from navigation and maintenance to crew management and compliance with regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify and report any safety or security concerns to shore-based management.
  • Maintain valid certifications, including II/2 - Master above 500GT qualification.
  • Lead by example in promoting a culture of safety and environmental awareness among the crew.
  • Coordinate ship operations, including provisioning and readiness for departure.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations, including those related to health, safety, environment, and security.
  • Manage conflicts and escalate issues as necessary.
  • Oversee ship maintenance and prepare operational reports.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive work environment through participation in training and induction programs.
  • Contribute to ongoing improvement initiatives and collaborate with management.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
  • Basic Safety Training (STCW A-VI/1) certification.
  • Proficiency in Medical Care On Board Ship (STCW Code A-VI/4-2).
  • Proficiency Survival Craft and Rescue Boat (STCW A-VI/2).
  • Advanced Fire Fighting (STCW A-VI/3) certification.
  • Security Training for Seafarers with Designated Security Duties A-VI/6.
  • Valid Seafarer Medical.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • At least 24 months of Sea time as a Ship Master.
