Design Manager Role

We are seeking an experienced professional to lead our consultancy business in a dynamic and challenging environment.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience delivering various building types across multiple sectors, with a strong understanding of design management systems, risk management, and mitigation.

Responsibilities include:

  • Developing delegated elements of the annual business plan to meet deadlines and budgets
  • Leading and managing design resources for projects
  • Managing daily operations for project design resources and managers
  • Presenting management review data and KPIs to project and leadership teams
  • Supporting business development and work-winning activities
  • Identifying, developing, and delivering relevant training programs
  • Ensuring management systems and project roles are followed and responsibilities are clear
  • Acting as the focal point for design-related matters on projects
  • Recommending and initiating changes to project delivery plans and developing new design management tools and processes
  • Supporting procurement routes, contractual, and legal aspects of projects
  • Promoting technical excellence and facilitating communication and dialogue
  • Collaborating with project management office teams to ensure coordinated deliverables
  • Seeking knowledge and experience through company resources and the centre of excellence
  • Working towards net zero carbon goals by managing associated emissions during project delivery
  • Applying good knowledge of construction and consultancy industries, including legislation, standards, and contracts
  • Maintaining excellent communication, organizational, presentation, and writing skills
  • Maintaining impartiality and evaluating evidence pragmatically
  • Taking initiative and making appropriate decisions
  • Having good BIM literacy, management, and deliverables
  • Providing technical challenge and leading others effectively
  • Fostering continuous improvement and resilience through training and activities
  • Being enthusiastic, involving, and encouraging team members
  • Acting as the central contact point for stakeholders within an inclusive environment
  • Recognizing personal strengths and weaknesses, seeking learning and support as needed
