Job Title: Commodities Business Development Specialist

This is an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Commodities Business Development Specialist. As a key member of the business development team, you will be responsible for managing all business development requirements and preparing a platform for sales activity under testing, inspection, and bespoke service delivery.

Your primary focus will be on creating new and continued business relationships with key decision makers in businesses regionally, both new and existing. You will sell products and services from our portfolio and drive revenue growth through formal bidding processes in competitive tenders or long-term contracts.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Tender Opportunity Identification: Identify and track tender opportunities through government portals, tender bulletins, and industry contacts for the Middle East Region.
  • Tender Document Analysis: Review and analyze tender documents (RFPs, RFQs, EOIs) to assess feasibility, identify commercial risk, compliance with regulatory, industry, and company-specific standards, and recommend mitigation strategies.
  • Sales Target Contribution: Contribute to sales targets by securing tender-based and contract-driven opportunities.
  • Contract Clarification Meetings: Participate in contract clarification meetings with clients or third parties.
  • Contract Term Alignment: Ensure that contract terms align with company policies and risk management frameworks.
  • Liaison with Legal Teams: Liaise with legal teams to handle deviations, liabilities, and legal obligations.
  • Bid Coordination: Coordinate with internal departments to draft and review high-quality, competitive bids.
  • Tender Document Submission: Ensure timely submission of all tender documents and compliance with client requirements.
  • Commercial Contract Negotiation: Negotiate commercial contracts and agreements.

Business Development Planning:

  • Pipeline Maintenance: Maintain a pipeline of upcoming bids and tenders to support forecasting and planning.
  • Tender Records: Maintain accurate records of all submitted tenders, contracts, and outcomes.
  • Contract Milestone Tracking: Track contract milestones, renewals, and expiries.
  • Performance Bond Management: Keep records of performance bonds and bank guarantees submitted during the tender process and arrange for their retrieval upon contract award and/or completion.
  • Sales Campaign Execution: Design and execute sales campaigns.
  • Sales Forecasting: Carry out sales forecasts and analysis, present findings to senior management.
  • Industry Function Attendance: Attend industry functions, such as association events and conferences, and provide feedback and information on market and creative trends.
  • Business Trend Consultation: Present to and consult with mid and senior level management on business trends with a view to developing new services, products, and distribution channels.
  • Sales Opportunities Identification: Identify opportunities for campaigns, services, and distribution channels that will lead to an increase in sales.
  • Unique Selling Proposition Development: Using knowledge of the market and competitors, identify and develop the company's unique selling propositions and differentiators.

Research and Coordination:

  • Bid Status Reporting: Generate regular reports on bid status, win/loss ratios, and contract performance.
  • Progress Reports: Submit weekly progress reports and ensure data is accurate.
  • Sales Target Forecasting: Forecast sales targets and ensure they are met by the team.
  • Account Activity Tracking: Track and record activity on accounts and help to close deals to meet these targets.
  • Prerequisite Fulfillment: Work with other staff to ensure that prerequisites (like prequalification or getting on a vendor list) are fulfilled in a timely manner.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A thorough knowledge of the inspection services of commodities - the solutions/services the company can provide, and of the company's competitors.
  • Minimum 2 Year experience in Testing, Inspection & Certification (TIC) Industry.
  • Eager to expand company with new sales, clients, and territories.
  • Able to analyse data and sales statistics and translate results into better solutions.
  • Creative problem solver who thrives when presented with a challenge.
  • Demonstrated and proven sales results.
  • Fluent communication in person, on the phone, and in email.
  • Abide by all non-compete/solicit agreements.
