Job Summary:
We are seeking a proactive and creative Communications Officer to manage internal and external communications for our business and clients. This role is key in promoting our brand, building relationships with customers and stakeholders, and ensuring consistent and effective communication across all platforms. You will wear many hats, from crafting social media posts to writing newsletters, advising clients on media and event management, coordinating press releases, and supporting marketing campaigns.
Job Description:
- Content Creation:
Write, edit, and distribute content including newsletters, social media posts, blog articles, and website updates. - Social Media Management:
Plan, schedule, and monitor content across platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn). - Brand Messaging:
Ensure all communications align with the company's tone, values, and branding guidelines. - Internal Communications:
Keep staff informed through internal newsletters, memos, and team updates. - Public Relations:
Draft press releases, manage media contacts, and coordinate responses to media inquiries. - Marketing Support:
Collaborate with marketing to support campaigns, promotions, and events. - Customer Engagement:
Respond to online inquiries or comments and help maintain a positive brand reputation. Reporting:
Track engagement metrics and provide insights for improvement.Client Media Management
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients regarding media and communication-related matters.
- Develop tailored media strategies for client campaigns or projects.
- Coordinate media outreach on behalf of clients, including drafting press releases, media kits, and pitches.
- Monitor media coverage for client brands and prepare regular reports or media clippings.
Ensure consistent messaging and brand representation across all client-facing content.
Communication Advisory:
- Advise clients and internal teams on best communication practices, media trends, and branding strategies.
- Provide crisis communication guidance and draft statements or responses as needed.
- Support clients in preparing for media interviews, presentations, or public speaking engagements.
- Offer insights into audience engagement strategies and content optimization.
Stay up to date on industry trends and provide recommendations to improve communication impact.
Event Management Responsibilities:
- Plan, coordinate, and execute company-hosted or client-sponsored events (e.g., product launches, press conferences, workshops, community outreach events).
- Manage event logistics, including venue booking, vendor coordination, catering, signage, and technical setup.
- Develop promotional materials and communication plans to drive event attendance and engagement.
- Coordinate event promotion across digital channels, email campaigns, social media, and press outreach.
- Serve as the on-site communications lead during events, ensuring brand consistency and managing real-time communications or media relations.
- Prepare and brief internal staff, speakers, or clients ahead of the event.
- Capture and curate event content (e.g., photography, video, quotes) for post-event marketing and reporting.
- Track event performance, gather attendee feedback, and prepare post-event reports to evaluate success and recommend improvements.
Preferred Experience:
- Minimum 2 years and maximum 5 years of progressive experience in communications, including leadership roles.
- Strong supplier management and event coordination background.
- Experience in corporate communications, event management, media relations, and stakeholder engagement is a plus.
- Requires flexibility to manage multiple client accounts and projects simultaneously.
Qualifications:
- Degree or diploma in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field (or relevant experience).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Familiarity with social media platforms and content management systems (e.g., WordPress, Canva) and media design tools (Adobe Creative Suite or similar).
- Basic knowledge of digital marketing tools (e.g., Mailchimp, Google Analytics) is a plus.
- Creative mindset with attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and handle multiple projects in a small team environment.
