Job Title: Operations Manager - Drilling

1. Overview: The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing and improving the efficiency and effectiveness of drilling operations. This role involves strategic planning, supervision of rig operations, and ensuring compliance with quality, health, safety, and environmental (QHSE) standards. The objective is to optimize resource allocation, enhance operational performance, and maintain high standards of safety and compliance within the drilling sector.

2. Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement operational strategies to enhance drilling performance.

  • Supervise daily rig operations and ensure adherence to QHSE regulations.

  • Manage budgeting and financial planning for drilling activities.

  • Coordinate maintenance and planning for drilling equipment to ensure integrity and reliability.

  • Prepare tenders and contracts for drilling projects, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.

  • Lead client coordination efforts to maintain strong communication and resolve issues promptly.

  • Oversee team leadership and skill development initiatives to ensure high performance.

  • Conduct performance appraisals for team members to foster professional growth.

3. Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in budgeting and financial planning tools and techniques.

  • Extensive knowledge of QHSE management systems applicable to drilling operations.

  • Familiarity with rig operational supervision methods and industry standards.

  • Strong understanding of maintenance planning for drilling equipment.

  • Experience in ensuring equipment compliance and integrity standards.

  • Skills in tender and contract preparation within the drilling industry.

  • Expertise in strategic planning and procurement processes.

4. Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in operations management within the drilling sector.

  • Proven track record of effectively managing drilling operations and teams.

  • Relevant certifications in QHSE management and project management preferred.

5. Skills & Experience:

  • Strong proficiency in budgeting and financial planning related to drilling projects.

  • In-depth knowledge of QHSE management principles and practices in drilling.

  • Hands-on experience in rig operations supervision and maintenance planning.

  • Expertise in ensuring compliance and integrity of drilling equipment.

  • Competence in tender and contract preparation that aligns with business objectives.

  • Ability to develop and implement strategic planning and procurement strategies.

  • Exceptional client coordination skills to foster positive working relationships.

  • Strong team leadership abilities, focusing on skill development, and conducting performance appraisals.
