When you work in Hawaii, in addition to learning about the functional aspects of running a hotel — like the proper way to make a bed or how to best handle luggage — it's critically important to understand Hawaiian culture and the spirit of 'ohana, or 'family.' When opening the first Andaz property in Hawaii, our team participated in Hawaiian culture training to help us understand what 'ohana truly means.

You will be responsible for providing an excellent and consistent level of service to your customers. The Swimming Pool Technician is responsible for assisting in the smooth and efficient running of the Engineering Department in support of all other operating departments.

Qualifications

You will be responsible for:

  • Cleaning the pool and skimming debris in the water using a net and vacuum
  • Knowledge of pool operation and pool chemistry
  • Knowledge of pump control and plumbing work
  • Knowledge of pool heating and cooling systems
  • Maintaining pool chemicals and checklists
  • Testing TDS, chlorine, and pH levels in swimming pool water
  • Adding swimming pool chemicals (e.g., chlorine, acid) to maintain water quality
  • Repairing underwater light fittings, cracks, leaks, and faulty equipment
  • Performing preventive swimming pool maintenance
  • Draining pools and water lines as needed
  • Keeping the plant and equipment to the highest standard
  • Keeping chemicals stocked and maintaining pool cleaning equipment
  • Coordinating with other technicians and learning Hotel Engineering operations
