JOB TITLE

Category Manager - Bakery | MAF Retail | Head office Oman

Role Summary

The Category Manager - Bakery is responsible for coordinating with buyers and suppliers as well as supporting purchases for Majid AlFuttaim Retail. The role holder is also responsible for assisting with the selection and evaluation of bakery items that appear on store shelves, in catalogues, and online.

ROLE PROFILE
  1. Implement effective strategies for sourcing bakery goods and ingredients while maintaining desired stock levels to meet customer demand.
  2. Sourcing the finest quality bakery products, raw materials and other baking essentials at competitive prices aligned with the organisation's objectives.
  3. Conducting comprehensive training programs for bakery staff to enhance their skills, ensure adherence to baking standards, and improve operational efficiency.
  4. Implement negotiation strategies to secure profitable deals.
  5. Identify vendors with good standing and suppliers to develop future partnerships with.
  6. Develop a cost scenario analysis, and benchmarking for the sourcing function when required.
  7. Oversee communication with suppliers on quality related issues and propose areas for improvement to ensure best quality products.
  8. Communicate with relevant stakeholders to ensure clarity of the specifications and expectations of the sourcing function.
Requirements
  1. Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or related field.
  2. 4+ years of experience in a similar role.
  3. Proven experience in bakery operations, including sourcing, production, and quality management.
  4. Knowledge of quality control and hygiene practices within the food and bakery industry.
  5. Strong negotiation skills and ability to deliver trainings to the bakery staff.
  6. ISO certification is preferred.
