As a think tank, the Majan Council implements both for-profit and not-for-profit research and advisory projects for Omani stakeholders, GCC stakeholders, global partners, and civil society. Its core areas span economy, public and foreign policy, and technology—especially energy. The Council also engages in national and international dialogues, contributes to the academic and scientific community, and delivers practical projects on the ground with various partners. In addition, it organises events and discussions for experts, decision-makers, and the broader public.

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated, proactive, and detail-oriented Administrative and Research Assistant to support our dynamic think tank. This role combines traditional administrative tasks—managing phone calls, emails, events, and scheduling—with hands-on research support for public sector and strategic projects. You will be part of a professional, culturally rich environment that values innovation, teamwork, and national development.

Key Responsibilities

Administrative Support

  • Manage phone calls, emails, and office conference arrangements.
  • Coordinate meeting schedules, events, and stakeholder engagements.
  • Maintain organised records and documentation.
  • Handle occasional event management tasks (planning, setup, coordination).
  • Draft brief texts or notes in Arabic and English for external publications or communications.

Research Assistance

  • Contribute to the preparation of proposals, tender documents, and research deliverables.
  • Assist in drafting reports, creating PowerPoint presentations, and basic data analysis in Excel.
  • Track and report on project milestones and deadlines.

Stakeholder Management

  • Serve as a liaison between internal teams and external partners in the public and private sectors.
  • Foster clear, consistent communication and collaboration.

Qualifications

Education (Preferred Fields)

  • Bachelor's degree in Administration, Management, or Finance.
  • Degrees in Engineering, Arabic Studies, English Studies, Law, Humanities, IT, or related areas will also be considered.

Experience

  • At least one year of experience in a similar role involving administrative and/or research responsibilities.

Language Skills

  • Fluency in both Arabic and English (spoken and written) is mandatory.
  • Translation skills are a plus.

Software proficiency

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Familiarity with Teams/SharePoint, Photoshop, or other tools is an advantage.

Desired (but not required) Knowledge

  • Background in energy/environment or economics/finance.

Soft Skills

  • Strong organisational and time-management abilities.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to thrive under deadlines while maintaining a high level of professionalism.

  • Applicants with less than 4 years of relevant experience are required to complete a three-month a (paid) internship before recieving a full contract
